She couldn’t make
The turn she tried to take.
So many lessons yet to be learned
I saw the pile-up, watched as it burned.
Mom never returned.
“Eight years old is far too young
to take a mother from her son.”
My father said as he tried
to dry our eyes.
“Just wait until the end,
You will see her again.”
This world would be okay
If she’d come back to stay.
Twelve years drag by,
She still fills my mind.
I can’t help but think that there must be a way,
To find some closure and take away pain.
While I’m still sane.
“This world is a cruel dark place,
As much as you, I miss her face”
“Dad, you can’t stop this plan I’ve weaved
For me to leave.”
“Just wait until the end,
You will see her again.” But I can’t wait that long.
Why should I live on?
